Lead Guitar I grew up on the south side of Chicago. I started taking guitar lessons at age 9 after some health issues were resolved. Sal Granata was my teacher and friend. I took classical guitar lessons from him from age 14 until age 20. Once in a while, we’d listen to albums and figure out the music so it was a real blast learning guitar that way. A little side note, Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon took lessons from Sal too. I still love listening to Andres Segovia and Julian Bream. I’ve played bass and guitar in several bands (garage and professional) and recorded with some of them.
Recently, I played with the Reckoning Crew, a mix of classic rock and country. Before that I was playing bass guitar with the Funatics. In between bands and teaching, I played with local theater groups in the pit for such plays as Jesus Christ Superstar, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Godspell, Grease, Nunsense, Quilters, and other shows. I have also taught guitar and bass as well.
I play and listen to all kinds of music. From classic country to alternative hard rock, I keep an open ear and learn something from every guitarist. |
